Introduction to the course Game Theory & Blockchain

Published by Mario Oettler on

This course aims at learners who want to understand the incentives and design mechanics of blockchains and blockchain-based projects.

We assume that you are not familiar with game theory. That’s why we explain basic principles first and draw links to the blockchain applications whenever necessary.

We try to discuss the application of game theoretical tools in blockchain separately from technical details. So, you can apply your insights to many projects no matter what the name of the cryptocurrency or token is.

Of course, understanding the connections to the blockchain requires a fundamental understanding of how a blockchain works.

Later in the book, we apply those tools to blockchain-related issues like attacks on consensus mechanisms like PoW or PoS, Fees, Oracles.
